Swara Bhasker- Padmaavat Controversy: Sonam Kapoor ‘LIKES’ A Tweet About A Woman’s Freedom Of Speech...
Swara Bhasker has stirred a big controversy in Bollywood with her open letter to Sanjay Leela Bhansali, slamming glorification of Jauhar in his film...
Looks like controversies related to Padmaavat are
never-ending.
Just when the film hit theatres, Swara Bhaskar
ignited a new debate in the industry via her open letter to Sanjay Leela
Bhansali, where the actress condemned his idea of glorifying the tradition of
Jauhar and Sati.
And now, the latest development in this matter is that
Swara’s Veere Di Wedding co-star, Sonam Kapoor has ‘liked’ a tweet, which in
Swara’s defence, speaks about a woman’s right to freedom of speech and also
slams those who are harassing Swara through nasty tweets.
Sonam Kapoor Liked The Tweet
Although Sonam has not expressed her views on a public
platform about the controversy till now, yet she ‘liking’ the tweet suggests
that if not take sides (Bhansali or Bhasker), at least the actress supports the
idea of Sawara voicing her opinion.
Sonam is one of the actresses who has a strong voice and
often stands for right. In this case, clearly the actress is supporting the
idea of not oppressing a woman’s voice- be it for positive or negative.
Talking about the controversy, well, Swara has spoken at
length justifying her action and giving numerous explanations as to why she
penned that letter. However, the lady has received flak from many including
filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri, who tagged her as a ‘fake feminist’.
We also told you, how at an event, Swara’s double
standard about feminism came in forefront when she refrained from using
the word Vagina on family channel.
Later, in the day, Deepika Padukone too had a
message to share with the actress, where she said probably Swara missed the
disclaimer which is put at the beginning of the film, condemning the act of
Jauhar and Sati.
Meanwhile, SpotboyE.com was among the first few ones
to express disagreement with Swara, soon after the actress put out her
open letter on social media.
Now, let's see
when the flame of this controversial topic dies down.
